Last week Adele posted on Facebook about her new album as- ‘My last record was a break-up record. And if I had to label this one, I’d call it a make-up record. I’m making up with myself. Making up for lost time. Making up for everything I ever did and never did.’
Since its release on Friday, buzz about ‘Hello’ has not been down. Till now it has got approximately 71 million views. However, it has to go a long way to beat the record of total views of ‘Bad Blood’ which is close to 598 million views.
It is 6 minutes long video featuring Adele and Tristan Wilds- ‘The Wire’ star. Like her other songs, this song is also about the relationships, heartbreaks and the upshot of both. The video was shot using IMAX cameras.
This song is not only getting the views but also breaking the records by getting the viral hit. Use of flip phone rather than the smart phone by Adele is creating a drone among the public. Probably, it is also generating the viral comedy clips as shown that mash up ‘Hello’ of Adele with the same name song of Lionel Richie in 1983.
Adele is the music sensation and she is the master of music industry in keeping the suspense for her new song releases. However, last week during the broadcast of Britain’s X-Factor, a mysterious ad containing some lines of “Hello” was run but it did neither show the name of singer nor the label of the song. It was suspense till the day video was released.
Unsurprisingly, Twitter got exploded with the collective videos of the commercial that led to the transfer of actual video.
According to Nielsen Music, around 11.2 million copies of Adele’s last effort, 21 were sold in U.S. Since this organization began tracking of music sales in 1991, it turns out that it is the tenth largest album till then. This album has generated the five hit singles.
It has been a banner year for big music videos between Adele and Swift. ‘Anaconda’ of Nicki Manaj was the biggest debut prior to these two singers which was released in August 2014. It got 19.6 million views within 24 hours of release. This record was set followed by ‘Wrecking Ball’ of Miley Cyrus that got 19.3 million views in 24 hours since its release on September 2013.
