Today I want to review the endgame system in Diablo 4, which is much more important than people realize. I’m going to be covering this endgame system called Helltide and how it became one of the end game specific systems.
You will have to be in World Tier 3 to unlock Helltide. So that means you have to beat the major campaign and get to level 50. You have to complete Capstone Dungeons to unlock World Tier 3, which will be very difficult even at level 50.
After you enter World Tier 3, Helltide officially begins. Helltide here is basically Lilith and her army taking over the entire game area, and Diablo 4 will introduce Helltide in five areas. So Helltide will take a fifth of the map and Diablo 4 Gold over and the area will become very dark.
It will look completely different. These evil Demons will invade it, and besides the fact that this area looks different during Helltide and is invaded by Demons, many other activities that may exist in this area will also change considerably in the first place.
All the enemies you’ll find in Helltide will be much harder than the normal enemies you’ll find in Hardmode, which should usually mean you get a little more loot than usual. But the vast majority of the loot you can get in Helltide is a new currency called Cinders.
New Currency
Basically, any quests you complete in Helltide will give you Cinders as a reward. Whether it’s killing enemies, killing bosses, or completing events, anything you do will give you this Helltide-specific currency. This currency is now used in Helltide Caches, and you’ll randomly find them scattered throughout Helltide.
Now the most important part of these Caches is that each Caches will give you a specific type of loot. So that means it’s going to be a big part of how players win the endgame. Because you can target farm specific loot.
It would be even more dangerous to continue Helltide theme now. Anytime you die, you will lose half of your Cinders and you can’t pick them up. The stakes are pretty high, especially compared to most of the rest of the game.
But that’s not all the difficulty with this endgame. Helltide has a limited time, and once the Helltide ends for that particular area, you lose all your Cinders. So you have to use up all Cinders you farmed in that particular Helltide in time. Or you’ll lose all your Cinders when that Helltide ends, and Helltide will shut down for an hour.
While Helltide spawn lasts for an hour, that means you have a very limited amount of time to farm Cinders, and find the chests you really want to use or that match your loot type. Since you don’t necessarily know where all these chests and Diablo 4 Gold for sale are, make sure to spend all your Cinders before you die or before Helltide ends.
New Content

Plus, while you’re collecting those Cinders, there’s actually a lot of new content in Helltide. Because except for some areas, it looks completely different graphically, full of various Demons. It will actually change all open world events in the region.
So normally, if you’re just walking around in the open world, random events pop up, and they usually have an orange circle. You can go and complete those for extra loot. Helltide will have its own patch for all of these events, which are likely to be much more difficult than normal events, but will also reward you with more Cinders as well as extra loot.
In fact, there will be roaming bosses in Helltide, which are also true boss fights. So they will be very difficult, like normal boss fights, and this will be the best way for players to get a lot of Cinders.

If you’re not strong enough by now to actually defeat these bosses, you don’t necessarily have to kill the boss alone. You can get together with your companions and defeat it together. Because this is in an open world area where anyone else in your instance can also help you fight enemies and buy Diablo 4 Gold.
I think in your same instance, there might be eight other people in one district at the same time. So you’ll probably have a lot of people running around helping each other fight all these enemies and kill these different roaming bosses.
They randomly spawned Cinders in each new Helltide. So, as I mentioned, you won’t know exactly where these are, so you’ll have to explore the area to find the different Helltide chests and try to find the ones you really need and that are worth using Cinders.
Uber Bosses
Recently, we actually got some new information from Riker, who is a longtime Diablo 4 player and has experienced almost all endgame content. He summarizes the tips players need to pay attention to in Helltide, and there is also a kind of super chest that you can find in Helltide. Uber Bosses can basically protect this chest if the player finds it, which means there might be another layer of bosses and chests in a different Helltide.
Now it sounds like these don’t always happen, so this might be more of a rare event. The other chest is one tier higher than all the other Helltide Caches you’ll find around the area. Right now, we’re not sure what this chest will actually bring. Maybe it’ll guarantee higher rarity gear pieces, or give you enough D4 Gold as rewards.
Biggest Problem
Now I’m basically everything we know about the system. This is also the high-risk content of the game. It gives you much harder targeted loot farming. This is always a big boon in loot-driven games, and it definitely breaks your ability to farm otherwise infinitely farmable content in the game.
But I think one of the potential problems is that the timer it’s on right now isn’t a very accurate timer. An hour up, an hour without Helltide. I think this might be a problem, maybe even more so for those who don’t have that much game time. Because they probably play for hours a day, and Helltide just ended.
So people might actually end up missing out on a lot of Helltide, despite the fact that it’s technically time-limited. Even though it’s pretty forgiving and how much time-gated it is, these Helltides apparently balance out an hour, so they drop a certain amount of Cinders.
There’s a lot of gameplay and tough decisions in it, but I can see there’s a lot of feedback that people want these Helltides to last longer, increasing Helltide’s timer. Then reduce the buff of Cinders by 25% or something like that. There are many ways I can increase the timer.
Helltides Are Important
I’ve definitely seen a lot of people barely think about these. Helltides are just some extra farming. But because you’re able to target farm loot, you can find some special gear to help you level up your build by finding it in Helltides. Because a lot of times you need to find a specific item in a specific item slot in order to get a piece of gear worth using.
Then once you get to the endgame and create a lot of builds, you’ll have a lot of items. There are almost always a few slots you want, you just can’t find the right item. Helltides can be a tremendous help when you’re trying to finish your build or get that item slot. That’s pretty much all I wanted to discuss.
